We may face a lot of dangers and health hazards on our workplace. According to the UK’s Health and Safety Executive those can be dangers such as asbestos, high temperatures, toxic substances and many more.
But one factor that many may actually not be aware of is the significant health risk that’s associated with prolonged working and sitting at a desk or a computer workstation. Not all people have ergonomic work places which means they have bad posture sitting at work for hours every day.
The result can be back pain, eye strain and general poor health.
What is Ergonomics?
According to WebMD, Ergonomics …
… is the study of the kind of work you do, the environment you work in, and the tools you use to do your job. The goal of office ergonomics is to set up your office work space so that it fits you and the job you are doing.
What this means is that if we understand the basics of ergonomics we will less likely encounter health problems such as eye strain, back pain or migraines. Fortunately, a lot can be done to make our work place more ergonomic. For instance, the right chairs and desks can help to improve posture when we’re sitting. This can greatly help to prevent later health problems.
